The concept au pair comes from the French language and means as much as “mu- Ever since more and more young people from all over the world have wanted to gain experience as au pairs abroad. During their stay at a host family they can improve their language skills and get to know the culture of a different country. The daily duties are very different and primarily depend on the lifestyle and individual needs of the particular host family. Therefore it is advisable, that the family lays down the tasks to get done together with the au pair right at the beginning of the stay. These tasks basically involve childcare and participation in housework. Thereby it is important, that the hosts realise, that an au pair is no domestic servant but should be treated as an equal member of the family. |
